Happy Friday! It’s time for another TGI…DIY project!

This week, using 25-40 used shampoo bottles, a strand of Christmas lights, and a few other household tools and materials, we are able to create a beautiful, upcycled chandelier!  This chandelier will be a completely one-of-a-kind piece of décor that will make you the envy of all of your friends.

Following TerraCycle’s instructions to string the lights and bottles together using zip ties, we provide an easy way to bring new life to seemingly useless materials.  After collecting and cleaning your used shampoo bottles, you can find out how to make your own upcycled chandelier using our step-by-step PDF tutorial that can be found on TerraCycle’s Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest pages or check out our instructional video on our YouTube channel.

Our instructions are just a guideline to creating your upcycled work of art.  Dare to be creative!  Experiment with other types of bottles, mix and match various sizes, and use different colored bottles for a unique chandelier designed just for you.

Be sure to show the world your creation and spread the idea of upcycling to your friends and family. DIY upcycling activities are a perfect rainy-day activity, but they most importantly redirect waste from landfills.

If you want to discover more ways to lessen your impact on the planet, check back next week for another TGI…DIY project from TerraCycle. Download the instructions here.
