When you need a bow to jazz up a gift, your first instinct might be to reach for one of the store bought ones that everyone uses.  This week’s TGI…DIY shows you how your gift can stand out by adorning it with a handmade, upcycled bow from a colorful cereal bag.  Not only you can keep something out of the garbage, it makes a one-of-a-kind presentation for your gift.

All you need for this project are a clean food wrapper, such as a Malt-O-Meal cereal bag, scissors, a hole punch and a paper fastener. You can download the template as well as step-by-step instructions.  Also, click HERE to watch the how-to video with our Chief Design Junkie, Tiffany Threadgould.  This is an easy DIY project to spread the recycling message to your friends and family while keeping cereal bag packaging from landfills. Instead of the typical wrapping job, this colorful unique DIY bow will also make your gift look thoughtful too. Check back next week for another easy, upcycled DIY project or simply go to the TerraCycle DIY section on our website for more innovative DIY projects. Feel free to post a photo of your crafty bow creation on our Facebook page before you give it away!
