Friday is TGI…DIY day, which means another do-it-yourself project from the TerraCycle design junkies!
This week, you can learn how to make your very own decorated collection box you can use to collect for a TerraCycle Brigade program.
The supplies you’ll need are two cardboard boxes, packing tape, scissors, a butter knife, glue, and any product packaging or wrappers you want for decoration. Don’t worry about wasting garbage bags, because this collection box uses the grocery bags you can find at your local supermarket.
Are you a big collector? Then use larger boxes and two or more grocery bags for your Brigade waste! You can decorate your box using the very waste you’ll be collecting, or you can turn your packaging inside-out and use the shiny side for a sleeker look. Be creative! Make a colorful collage of wrappers, then glue on a TerraCycle logo. Make it eye-catching and spread the word about your collection efforts!
For step-by-step instructions on how you can make your own box, follow the directions on this PDF. You can also watch an instructional video on TerraCycle’s YouTube channel here.
Check out some other DIY videos while you’re there! Share pictures of your new collection box on TerraCycle’s Facebook and Twitter pages, and be sure to spread the word about your efforts to increase those collections. Be sure to check back in a week to see what new TGI…DIY projects TerraCycle will have in store!
