Kickstart a cleaner spring by learning how to easily reduce waste from your bathroom products! Whether you swap out disposables for reusable products or switch to eco-friendly and recyclable options, show the planet you care by checking out these simple tips for a zero waste bathroom!

Use Eco-Friendly Toilet Paper

Toilet paper is one bathroom item most of us won’t go without, but that doesn’t mean we can’t choose eco-friendly options to reduce the environmental impact of our toilet paper purchase! Look for toilet paper brands that package rolls in recyclable paper rather than plastic packaging—this way, you can recycle both the cardboard tube and the paper packaging in your recycling bin.

For other eco-friendly toilet paper tips, you can also look for rolls made from recycled paper, tree-free paper, rolls without a cardboard tube, or install a bidet to use less toilet paper.

Use a Safety Razor

One common bathroom item that you may not think of as wasteful: disposable razors! Did you know that the EPA estimates the United States produces 2 billion disposable razors every year? That’s a huge amount of waste! Ditch the plastic razors and switch to a reusable safety razor with replaceable and recyclable blades.

TIP: Make your razor even more sustainable by drying your blades after each shave. This will make them last longer so you don’t need to switch them out as often!

Stop Using Q-Tips and Cotton Balls

For cleaning your face or taking your makeup off, many of us rely on disposable products like Q-tips, cotton balls, makeup wipes and more. That’s a lot of trash to accomplish something we could do with reusable products instead!

Swap out your disposables for alternatives like reusable cotton rounds or a good old washcloth—instead of throwing them in the trash after one use, you can toss your reusable rounds or washcloths in with your laundry to clean them and use them again.

Use Upcycled Containers to Organize Your Bathroom

Instead of buying new products for your bathroom like a toothbrush holder or small storage bins, upcycle containers you already have around the house! Give your bathroom an upcycled makeover by storing your bathroom items like toothbrushes, toothpaste, and cosmetics in reused mason jars.
